Kirtan Vancouver and Shamanic Yoga Institute are coming together to present to you an evening of Kirtan with Jahnavi Harrison!  This event is one night only in Squamish so it's not to be missed and please help us spread the word!  The evening doesn't have a fixed charge.  If you are inclined able to give a donation it'll help us cover costs and be very much appreciated.

Jahnavi Harrison was raised in a family of bhakti yoga practitioners at Bhaktivedanta Manor in Hertfordshire, England. She is a writer, musician and artist who aims to channel her creative expression as a path to self-realisation and service.

She is trained in both Western as well as Carnatic (South Indian) classical dance and music, as well as writing and visual arts. After graduating with a BA in Linguistics and Creative Writing, she travelled internationally with the sacred music band, ‘Gaura Vani and As Kindred Spirits’, for five years, presenting the dynamic stories and spiritual culture of India for a fresh, contemporary audience.

She has also been a member of sacred music collective ‘Sita and the Hanumen’, and has often collaborated with kirtan artists like Krishna Das, Shyam Das, Wah!, Shantala and Jai Uttal. In 2012 she was presented with a Youth Achievement award at the UK House of Lords for her efforts to bring upliftment to society through sacred music. In 2015 she released her debut sacred music album, ‘Like a River to the Sea’, and also took part in the Grammy nominated, ‘Bhakti Without Borders’ album.

She now helps to run ‘Kirtan London’, a project which aims to make sacred mantra music accessible and relevant to a wider audience, including schools, mental health institutions and outdoor events. She writes regularly on spirituality and the arts for various publications and organisations such as the Darbar Festival, Pulse Magazine, Songlines Magazine and BBC Radio as well as on her blog – ‘The Little Conch’ (www.littleconch.com).
